Grespania Rambla Zafiro Wall Tile 7.5 x 30cm
Rambla Zafiro is a small 7.5 x 30cm brick tile in deep sapphire blue, with a thick, glassy glaze that gathers in the dips of a gently rippled surface. Where the glaze is thinner the blue lightens, and where it pools it turns almost navy, so a wall of Zafiro shows dozens of shades of the one colour. Grespania makes the tile with 44 different faces, which stops the pattern from repeating.
Lay it in a classic brick bond for a kitchen splashback, or stack it vertically in straight columns, the way Grespania shows the range, for a taller, Art Deco look in a bathroom or a home bar. It's coloured-body porcelain, 7mm thick, with natural non-rectified edges that add to the handmade feel. The shade variation is high, so it's worth mixing tiles from several boxes as you go. Rambla also comes in Esmeralda green and Azabache black.
