Herringbone floors have been a favourite in British hallways since Victorian times, and ClickLux Haldon Antique Oak Herringbone suits that look well. It's a mix of medium browns with a hint of grey and plenty of grain, so it sits comfortably alongside period features like panelled doors, cast-iron radiators and traditional sanitaryware.
Because it's waterproof, the same floor can carry on into a cloakroom or bathroom without a change of material. Each 12.6 x 63cm plank is made from SPC, a stone plastic composite whose main ingredient is limestone, so water doesn't soak in and the planks stay flat.
The planks join with a 5Gi click system and have a 1mm foam underlay already fixed to the back, so there's no glue and no separate underlay. A 0.3mm wear layer protects the surface from day-to-day marks, and it works with underfloor heating. Herringbone involves more cutting than straight planks, so it's sensible to order a little extra.
