The metro tile takes its name from the Paris Métro, where bevelled white tiles lined the stations when the first line opened in 1900. More than a century on, it's still one of the most popular choices for kitchens and bathrooms. Original Style's Artworks metro tiles keep that bevelled edge, which catches the light along every row, and come in the same glazes as the rest of the Artworks range, from Brilliant White and County White to Duchy Pink, Ascot Blue and Edwardian Green.
That bevel is also the reason for the Metro Corners. Cut a metro tile in half and you're left with a flat edge that doesn't match the rest of the wall. The Metro Corner is a square half-size tile with the same bevel, so when you lay your tiles in a brick bond, every other row can finish neatly at a corner or at the edge of the wall.
Pair them with Artworks mouldings in the same colour for a dado rail or skirting, or take a look at the Artworks brick tiles if you'd like a longer, slimmer shape. If you can't see the colour you're after, give our team a call on 01908 311104 and we'll be happy to help. There are plenty more photos in the Artworks brochure.
