Mosaic tiles are small tiles available in different shapes and sizes set on a mesh back. Mosaics are often used in the modern bathroom to create feature walls or run in vertical strips to break up plain colour. The mesh can be cut to different sizes giving you options to create different patterns. As the mesh is pliable, mosaics are great for working around different surfaces and shapes like round columns and wet room floors, which are slightly sloped for drainage. They're also great for wet room floors as they offer better grip under foot, with more grout lines between each small tile piece.
Mosaic are trickier to fix than normal tiles, as the mesh is pliable it's harder to get a level surface. To make installation easier, we suggest using Verona Mosaic Mesh, a strong self-adhesive mesh which is applied to the back of the mosaic sheets, making the mesh solid and rigid allowing the mosaic to be laid in the same way as a standard tile.
Alternatively you could opt for a mosaic effect tile, which looks just like a mosaic tile once grouted, but is in fact a whole tile with deep scored lines defining what appears to be mosaic pieces. Mosaic effects are often a lot cheap than mosaics tiles on mesh back and a lot quicker and easier to fix.
Mosaics are available in ceramic, porcelain, glass and stone. Anti-slip finish mosaics are also available which are great for floors if you are concerned about safety in wet areas.
