If you’re looking for a stunning design feature for your walls, why not go for a modern glass splashback?

Traditionally, splashbacks were used in the kitchen, placed behind a cooker or around a sink. Being grout-free, splashbacks present the simplest way to keep wet areas clean – water and cooking splashes can simply be wiped away to keep the glass sparkly clean and beautifully shiny. The toughened glass is also heat resistant, so perfectly safe to be installed near sources of heat - ideally suited to cooking areas.

As time has moved on, so has the use of glass splashbacks. Although perfect for a kitchen, they are often used as a modern feature in living and dining areas, even in the bedroom, as a feature wall behind a headboard. Or you can continue from the kitchen through to breakfast bar and dining area, linking the rooms with splashbacks and upstands of the same colour. Upstands, the strip version of a splashback, can also work very well placed alongside a bath instead of tiles, preventing the need for constant re-grouting due to the moisture.

Splashbacks are even tough enough to be used in commercial areas and are often seen in retail outlets, restaurants, hotels and offices. Indeed, the common glass splashback is no longer confined to the kitchen!

Adding a splashback is a great way to quickly introduce a block of colour, whether it be a subtle grey or a bold, vibrant shade – perhaps a shocking pink or florescent green! The shiny glass finish bounces light around from even the smallest and darkest areas, to give the perception of a much larger and brighter environment.

Our glass splashbacks by Original Style are available in two sizes - 60 x 75cm and 90 x 75cm. Unfortunately, these are not designed to be cut as are made of toughened glass. Most colours also have a co-ordinating upstand available in a 100 x 14cm format. The upstands, however, are not made from toughened glass, so can easily be cut for neat installation around power sockets, wall units and appliances.

Take your pick from the attractive collection of colours – from cool Arctic White to dark and mysterious Indus black, and everything in between! The glass surfaces have a gloss finish, but some also feature a metallic, sparkle or even a rainbow finish too. With the Aurora Borealis splashbacks, no two splashbacks are the same - just like the displays from the Northern Lights. If using more than one from this range, the patterns will not necessarily match up, yet the effect will be stunning all the same!
