Real wood flooring for your home.

Solid wood flooring - natural planks of wood cut to regular shapes and sizes. This is not as easy to install as engineered or laminate flooring as there is no easy click system. We would recommend using an experienced tradesmen, it's not a DIY friendly job. If installing onto concrete then the planks will need to be glued down. If you are overlaying an existing wood floor, then the planks must be nailed down. It is essential the floor is level before work begins. You may need to screed your floor first using a leveling compound.

Remember wood is a natural product, so you must leave a gap around the room, to allow for expansion. Being a natural product, wood will feed on water, soaking up every spill and splash, so we wouldn't recommend solid wood floors for bathrooms! If your wooden floor absorbs water, the planks could expand, bow and may even rot, this of course depends on how much water it comes in contact with and for how long. Just make sure you clean up all spillages straight away, and it will be fine. When it comes to cleaning then, what do you do? Don't wash it! Wood must be cleaned using a dry brush and / or a specialist cleaner.

Solid Wood Floors look stunning in all settings, fitting right in with both modern and classic style homes. Like all natural products, solid wood floors remain beautiful whether maintained or not. There is a certain charm about a distressed natural product that no man-made print or design can beat, so if you do let your floor go, it will always look stylish just in a different way.
