In his famous book the Grammar of Ornament (1856), which is kept in the Prints and Drawings Collection at the Victoria and Albter Museum, Jones analyzed and complied the patters used in man cultures and historical periods. The Grammar of Ornament soon became an invaluable and often copied source book on pattern making for British manufacturers.
